Department Political Science
The department was established in 1981. Since its inception the department has been imparting education at the undergraduate level with Political Science as the main subject. There are four faculty members. Dr Rakhee Viswambharan (MA ,PhD, UGC-NET) is the Head of the Department and an Alumni of this College. She is a rank holder of University of Kerala and recipient of University Merit Scholarship. She has published 12 articles/chapters in international /national journals. She is the author of India, China and Tibet: A Quest for Autonomy, Published by Nova Science University Press, New York. Joshy P.M. (Ph. D) is a faculty in the Department having nine years of teaching experience. He is the author of ‘State and Civil Society under Siege: Hindutva, Security and Militarism in India,’ Published by Sage India. He has contributed research articles in the peer reviewed research Journals such as Indian Journal of Public Administration (Sage India), Indian Journal of Politics and International Relations, South Asian Journal of Diplomacy, International Journal of South Asian Studies, and also contributed research papers in many edited volumes published by national and international Publishers. He is an approved research guide of the University of Kerala since 2017. Abhilash T (MA, UGC-NET) is the former head of the department, having 9 years of teaching experience. He is the Member of BA Board of Studies of Kerala University & Kannur University. Currently he is the teacher’s representative in college Council and is pursuing PhD in Kerala University. Arjun K S (MA, UGC-JRF) Completed Bachelors and Masters degree in Political Science from University of Kerala. Qualified UGC NET June 2019 and Qualified JRF NFHE in December 2019. Former Higher Education Fellowship Holder, Aspire Fellowship Holder Sponsored by Higher Education Council Kerala, 2020. Also Served as Field Supervisor for Psephological studies under Centre for Electoral Studies, Thiruvananthapuram and as Field investigator for CNN IBN, Delhi.
