Shri. Vellapally Natesan is the General Secretary of the Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana (SNDP) Yogam, the social organisation of millions of Ezhavas in Kerala. He hails from Kanichukulngara, Alappuzha district of Kerala. Shri. Vellapally Natesan is also the Secretary of the Sree Narayana Trusts, which manages the educational institutions under S.N.D.P Yogam.
A great man with a mission and a committed personality who acquired the post of General Secretary of SNDP Yogam, the post which was once graced by the great poet Kumaranasan and Shri R. Sankar the former chief minister of Kerala.
Shri Natesan was born in 1937 at Kanichukulangara near Cherthala. He was born as the elder of the twins to the couple Shri Vellappally Kesavan Muthalali and Smt Devaki Amma. The twins were named in the name of god Paramasiva. The elder one is Natesan and the younger one is Natarajan.
Shri Vellappally Kesavan Muthalali was the landlord in Kanichukulangara with coir related business and to this rich environment Natesan was born. Natesan was the smartest child of all his brothers and sisters viz. Pangajakshi, Mohandas, Ambujakshy, Maniyamma, Vilasini, Vinodini, Natarajan, Ramachandran, Sundaresan, Kamalamma, Subakesan.
The inborn leadership qualities of Shri Natesan made him a leader in the school and his boldness led him to become a person with integrity and character even in the young age itself. He became the school leader as KSU candidate, where most of the pupils were from the communist families. It was his charismatic approach and the leadership qualities that led him to win even in this adverse situation. In the early age itself Shri Natesan was striving for the welfare, involving in various social empowerment activities and had concern for the problems of the society in which he lived. Shri Natesan likes to be a part of the society and his will to empower people has led to a concept of self sustainable culture. A successful outcome of this concept is the successful implementation of microfinance project of the SNDP Union. This now gives lifeline to lakhs of families in Kerala. Nothing but his social involvement created Tagore dance academy and Tagore library at Kanichukulangara.
The family of Shri. Vellappally Natesan consists of his wife Preethi Natesan, Thushar Natesan his son and his daughter Vandana. His wife Smt Preethi, is the soul and spirit of his life and ventures.
Leadership at the Helm
Shri Vellapally Natesan has successfully completed 25 years at the helm of SNDP Yogam as its General Secretary and as the Manager of SN Trust. The year long silver jubilee celebration was inaugurated by the Governor Shri Arif Mohammed Khan. Implementation of various social security initiatives and the measures to spread Sree Narayana Gurus teachings are part of the year long celebrations.
