The Department of Economics is organizing a Three-Day Training Programme on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI & ML). The programme will cover the fundamentals of AI and ML, mathematical foundations of machine learning, and hands-on training in Python and essential ML packages.

World Environment Day Observation – Tree Plantation Programme
On 5 June 2026, the Department of Economics, observed World Environment Day with a tree plantation programme on the college campus. The initiative was organized by the second-year B.A. Economics students under the guidance of the faculty members of the department.
The programme was led by Dr. Raji Raveendran and Dr. Suchithra Devi S, Head of the Department of Economics. As part of the celebration, students actively participated in planting saplings in various parts of the college premises, promoting environmental awareness and emphasizing the importance of conserving nature for future generations. The event served as a reminder of the collective responsibility to protect the environment and contribute towards a greener and more sustainable future. Report on BSE's Investor Awareness Programme
The Department of Economics, Sree Narayana College, Chempazhanthy, organized an Investor Awareness Programme for BA. Economics students on [20th August 2025] in association with Bombay Stock Exchange Limited.
The session commenced at 2:00 p.m. with a welcome address by Dr. Suchithra Devi S Head of the Department and Convener of the programme. The resource person was Mr. Sumith C. S., representing BSE Ltd., who delivered an engaging and insightful session on the fundamentals of mutual funds and investment practices.
Mr. Sumith C S explained in a simple and lucid manner the minimum investment requirements in mutual funds, the scope of investing in shares, the benefits of investment, and the importance of tracking the movement of shares. His practical approach and clear explanations enabled students to grasp the concepts effectively.
The programme concluded at 3:30 p.m. with an active participation from the students. During the interactive session, Mithun Prasad (III B.A. Economics) and Abin (B.A. Economics) raised relevant questions, while Mohit (II B.A. Economics) shared his positive feedback on the programme. The students actively participated, making the session lively and productive.
Dr. Raji Raveendran proposed the vote of thanks, appreciating the resource person for his excellent presentation and valuable guidance.
The session proved highly beneficial in enhancing the financial literacy and investment awareness of the students.
